Cara’s Finds

- Start your back-to-school shopping and get the best deals! Check out these Disney backpacks and lunch totes from $5 to $7 at DisneyOutlet.com. Pottery Barn Kids also has backpacks for preschoolers for only $9.99.

- Cover fakers. ABC has a photo gallery of doctored magazine covers, which includes the recent Men’s Fitness cover of tennis star Andy Roddick. According this ABC story, Roddick thought his bulging biceps were quite humorous.

- Sick game show. Have you heard about this Dutch game show called the “Big Donor Show” in which contestants to receive a kidney from an terminally ill woman? The producers admit that the show may be considered tasteless. But, they say the reality is even more shocking, citing that waiting lists for organs in the Netherlands are more than four years long. Sorry, but I don’t think a game show is the answer.

Susan’s Finds

- “Let me be transparent.” This new buzz phrase (in my work circles, anyhow) has been driving me CRAZY lately. Anyhow, it’s what I thought of when I saw True Mom Confessions, a site where you can be anonymously “transparent” about motherhood. Some are funny, others sad. The ones about vibrators are just plain weird.

- Summer day off? Take the kids to a free movie. Raising4Boys provides this helpful list of movie theaters offering free children’s movie showings this summer. Probably more helpful to SAHMs or working moms with flexible/part-time schedules. But still.

- WMAG on MomJunction. I started a new group for Working Moms Against Guilt on MomJunction. I’d love for you to join if you’d like to continue or start new discussions about WMAG stuff.

“Let me be transparent.” WTF is that supposed to mean?!?!

  2. Walter says:

Rest asure, the show was a hoax. It was aired, but the person supposed to choose ‘the lucky one’ was actually an actrice. Great show.

  3. Tela says:

I love some of these finds–esp. true mom confessions and those fake magazine covers. My favorite is the floating smiling black face on the University of Wisconsin magazine cover.
