Cara’s Finds

Borders Kids Party. If you’re looking for something to do Saturday afternoon, check out the Borders bookstore’s Kids Party from 2 to 4 p.m. There will be stories, activities, and more fun.

Coney Island Fall-O-Ween Festival. Cincinnati-area families might also enjoy Coney Island’s Fall-O-Ween Festival going on Saturday and Sunday. I’ve never been, but it looks like a good time.

Calling all All Pro Dads. The All Pro Dad Father & Kids experience will be held in 12 different NFL markets. Dads and kids rotate through stations and participate in interactive games designed to strengthen their relationship. My husband and son are signed up for the October 4th event held at Paul Brown Stadium. (My daughter is a little too young to go.) The cost is $15 per family and includes the father and up to 4 kids. I’m jealous! Not only will they get to play on the actual playing field, but they’ll get see Bengals Hall of Famer Anthony Munoz, too. Find out if the All Pro Dad experience is coming to your town. And register, because it sells out quick!

Tela’s Finds

Got a little one interested in politics and/or the upcoming election? Or maybe you just want a little taste of nostlagia? Check out the Schoolhouse Rock Election Collection. It features a bunch of election-theme songs, including “Shot Heard ‘’Round the World,” “I’m Gonna Send Your Vote to College,” and the all-time fave “I’m Just a Bill.” Ahh… I really loved me some Schoolhouse Rock.

–Want to help save the lives of malnourished children, help provide drop-in care at hospitals, or struggling schools thrive? Then check out the American Express Members Project. You can vote for your favorite, and the project that gets the most votes could receive up to $1.5 million.

If you aren’t going to Borders this weekend, you should check out Joseph Beth’s Kid’s Bargain Blowout. Or maybe go to both bookstores. Bookstores are fun! I went LAST weekend for the sale because I obviously can’t read dates, but lucky me, some kids books were already discounted. I scored some “pigeon books” for O.

Thank you so much for this wonderful list, and for your mention of the AMEX members project. International Medical Corps is hoping to win 1.5 million for malnourished children, and we got into the top five! That is awesome, but we need as many people as possible to vote again before Oct. 14 as vote tallies now start from scratch. We can do it! Thanks again, and I’ll be doing the Cincinnati Walk coming up. hot tip!
