Editor’s note: This post has been updated for 2017.
As Halloween draws near, our family loves to watch both classic and new family-friendly TV shows and Halloween movies on Netflix (streaming only—we don’t do the DVDs by mail anymore).
Looking for some new recommendations to add to your queue? Netflix doesn’t make it super easy to find Halloween-oriented shows, so I did the homework for you and unearthed some real gems.
Here are 35 spooky (but not too scary) Halloween favorites currently available to stream on Netflix. Click on any of the titles for a direct link to watch instantly (if you have a subscription, of course).

Many of those aren’t available!?
Monster Squad is now on Netflix 🙂
Monster Squad is NOT family friendly.
No more than Goosebumps or Escape to Witch Mountain
Thank you so much!
Netflix also has ‘Room on the Broom’ this year. Super cute and only about 30 min long. My kids love it.
Thanks for the suggestion, Jessica! I’ll have to add that one to the list.
Yep that’s a favorite for my family also!! Is there room on the broom for a frog like me? Lol
Love it!
I just tried searching paranorman and its not coming up on my Netflix. Just thought I’d let you know. =)
Thank you for the list! It will make our Halloween movie night for the kids so much easier.
Glad to hear it, Rebecca! You’re most welcome. TV is one of my specialties 🙂
Thank you so much! The searching on Netflix was not fruitful. I found you through a google search.
You’re welcome! Glad to hear it was helpful for you 🙂
Dear Dracula is a new cute movie on netflix. Also the Corpse Bride.
Any of the movies in this list worth a watch arent actually available on Netflix…Netflix sucks
Love this list thank you for doing my homework!
You’re welcome, Carrissa!
thank you for the list. some of those i did not find on my own.
This list has been helpful! I initially tried searching “Halloween” but little came up. Couldn’t find paranorman this year but maybe I’ll search on Hulu. However, searching for it showed some films similar too which lead us to watching the corpse bride, another great one for Halloween!
The nightmare before christmas has been gone for years… Disney just sucks so much they take the good movies off so they can charge people an arm and leg just to get them. As if they aren’t rich enough. Ugh.
$15 for the blu-ray (which is better quality than streaming, or $8 for the DVD is an arm and a leg? I mean, get real. And Disney is a publisher and company, yes, but there are real working folk behind those movies that still get royalties.
$18 (not $15) for one movie compared to $10-per-month is more like an arm and two legs! You get real! Disney does suck and they behave just like the predators they are.
I think that a movie should be added to this list: The Corpse bride. Me and my siblings all watched this when were little and we still do
Alvin and the chipmunks meet Frankenstein
These are not even in Netflix!
and its 2017
Not on netflix but on Amazon instead – The short films Pumpkin Moon and 13th Kitten. They’re great halloween animations, would definitely recommend.
Grrr, A blog is had by me personally on my website and it sucks.
I actually
removed it, but may need to bring it back. You gave me inspiration!
Keep on writing!
I think this is an intriguing blog with unique ideas. Have you ever heard about PunchFlix? It’s this really awesome streaming service that has unique substance and it also demonstrates other tv channels anywhere in the world. It’s going to have some of the vintage TV programs along with movies that we all would undoubtedly enjoy. Not exclusively that, but it is also going to offer films on demand which suggests that we could enjoy whichever program or movie whenever we want. PunchFlix is also about to have movies and Series in different foreign languages. All we have to do is search for it on the web or download the app.
What about twitches?
