Cara’s Finds

New magazine for the ripe mom-to-be. PLUM magazine is described as “the first-ever magazine dedicated to the 35+ childbearing woman.” Join PLUM online and you receive a chance to win a $4,000 babystyle shopping spree.-Stop the birthday nonsense! Birthdays Without Pressure was started by a small group of parents in St. Paul, Minnesota who feel kids’ birthday parties have gotten way out of control. Yeah, just think of MTV’s My Super Sweet 16. I haven’t experienced any pressure to throw my kids elaborate birthday parties yet. And by elaborate, I mean somewhere outside my home, with a ton of their friends. Have you? Share your experience on the BWP message board. Or share here. I’m curious.

– Cocktail playdates for moms? Thanks to WMAG reader Sarah for forwarding this Today Show story to me. Do playdates with a glass of wine mix? “Remember kids, no pushing, no yelling… and no f’*#king Merlot!”

Susan’s Finds

Behind the scenes with a high-profile WMAG. Whether or not you’re a Today Show fan, check out cohost Meredith Vieira’s blog. She gives an interesting, well-written slice of her daily life as a TV news personality, wife, and mother of three teenagers. Whew!

Baby gear online at very reasonable prices. Since I just had to buy Cassie three (count ’em, 1, 2, 3) car seats, I seriously searched for the best deal. I found it at Albee Baby, a Manhattan-based retailer with killer online deals. Shipping is free for purchases more than $100 (not hard to do with baby stuff!) and a flat rate of $4.95 for purchases $100 or less. Plus, no tax (unless you live in New York). On Shopzilla, more than 2,500 customers have rated Albee Baby as “outstanding” with “a proven track record of dependability and customer satisfaction.” I would have to agree!

Stay on top of the hottest online videos. Vidmeter is a relatively new site that tracks the Web’s top videos getting passed around. It posts links to the 50 most popular videos from Atom Films, Break.com, Daily Motion, Google, iFilm, Metacafe, Myspace, Revver, vSocial, Yahoo, and Youtube. Don’t miss the “Will It Blend?” series. Good times!

I had to laugh out loud, thinking of myself as a ‘ripe mom-to-be’. My new boobs sure make me feel like one. 🙂 Rock on, Cara!
