—Buy my sister’s friend’s album. I’ve been in a music funk for the last… well, probably since the late 90s. My iPod is loaded with overplayed 80s and 90s tunes from big-hair bands to grungey flannel dudes. On the other hand, my younger sister–a world-traveling, rockin’ sound engineer–hangs out with the who’s who of the music world. Including her buddy, Jason Mraz, whose video for his single “I’m Yours” debuted at #12 on Vh1’s Top 20. You might remember Jason’s hit from a few years back called “The Remedy.” Anyway, if you haven’t heard his new song… you need to! I can’t get it out of my head. It might be the remedy to my musical funk. His album We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. will be available May 13. And for WMAGs living in Cincinnati, check him out when he opens up for Sheryl Crow at Riverbend’s National City Pavilion on May 25. I’ll be there (right, little sis!).
—Rewards for recycling. I was really happy to see a news story last night about Hamilton County and Rumpke, our local trash management service, working together to bring RecycleBank to Cincinnati. RecycleBank rewards you on the amount you recycle. The recycling guy weighs and scans in your recycle bin which is then converted into reward points that you can use to shop at local and national businesses, including Ikea, grocery stores, movie theaters and more. Hopefully this will get more people on board with recycling! Like my mother-in-law who believes recycling is a scam and that t all gets dumped in the landfill. Do you have RecycleBank in your community?
–I’m not a huge fan of Facebook, so therefore I *love* this little video. Now excuse me while I go and slay some vampires, figure out my hero ability, and take care of the other 800,000 requests for stuff from “friends” on Facebook. Oh who am I kidding? I’m never going to do any of that. Sorry, Facebook friends.
—My friend Amy hipped me to this neat little thing CNN offers: Shirts with the latest CNN headlines. At first, I was all “Huh? Say what? Why would anyone want that? Who convinced CNN that was a good idea?” But then I started poking around. Some of the shirts could be super funny–like this one. Other shirts, not so much.
