Susan’s Friday Finds
— Fall TV season is almost here! Being a bit of a TV head, I am psyched about all the fresh new and returning shows to watch. You too? Kick it off this weekend with the Primetime Emmys, hosted by Ryan Seacrest (I’ll miss Ellen). That’s Sunday at 8 p.m. on Fox. Then, get the new season’s scoop from TV Guide’s Fall Preview. There’s a special section devoted to family shows, as well as new and returning ones, plus a printable calendar of premieres. I’ve already marked my calendar for Oct. 2: Cavemen!
— Unless you’re one of those Martha Moms with everything all super-organized (even your shoes)—which you probably aren’t if you’re reading this blog!—you might like these organizational products for moms. More Organized Mom (MOM) sells calendars, notepads, checklists, and other helpful stuff to keep you from falling apart. You can also sell the MOM products like an Avon lady if you need extra cash. Thanks to Michelle for alerting me to this find.
— A TV reporter mom stops being polite, starts being real in her new book. Smotherhood: Wickedly Funny Confessions from the Early Years by Amanda Lamb looks like a good read. According to the book description, Lamb writes about “the reality of raising children, working, and keeping a family together, sharing some wickedly funny moments along the way.” Judging from this excerpt on MSNBC.com, the book promises to evoke some laughs.

— Long live the yard sale queen. Tomorrow we’re having a neighborhood yard sale and I hope it’s a success—we have lots of stuff to get rid of. Earlier this week I googled, “yard sale tips” and found the Yard Sale Queen. Her website is full of yard sale tips for sellers and buyers, funny yard sale stories, and more. Good information if you’re an unseasoned yard-saler, like me.
The MOM calendars look awesome! I just ordered one. Thanks for the tip!
