I’ll definitely be wearing some flowers in my hair when I head out to San Francisco next month for BlogHer 2008!
Last year, I was a total newbie to the blogosphere and went just to see what it was all about. (Of course, it helped that my employer at the time paid my way.) I ended up having a total blast, meeting tons of new people, learning about blogging, and just enjoying some time by myself in a different town.
This year, I’ll have almost two years of blogging under my belt and know at least a few of the bloggerati in attendance (even if most of them don’t have a clue who I am). Sadly, I’m funding my own trip this go-around, since I’m not quite bold (dumb?) enough to ask my new employer to foot the bill.
But more importantly, I know what to expect. That is, swag. A swanky hotel room. Parties galore. Smart (and smart-ass) speakers. More cool women gathered in one place than anywhere on earth. Tons of free food and coffee (a must-have after all those parties). And in a really cool town that I’ve yet to explore.
I’m also looking forward to staying for the third and final day, the “Unconference.” Last year, I split and didn’t get to experience what I now hear is possibly the coolest part of BlogHer. So I’m hanging out for the free-flowing “open space” portion of the program, and leaving on a red-eye jet plane back to Cincinnati Sunday night.
Thinking about going, too? Better register soon. I think it’s going to sell out like any day now.
Already planning to go? I’d love to meet up with any WMAG readers who will be at BlogHer. Feel free to leave a comment or email me–we’ll figure out a time to meet for a drink or something. San Francisco, here I come!
I am going and we are definitely meeting up for a drink (or two).
Sniff, sniff. Am so freaking jealous right now of you. Enjoy all that swag for me 🙂
I’ll be there!
I will miss seing you this year. Hanging out with you and eating lots of fried food was definitely a highlight for me last year! Enjoy. I’ll look forward to your report.
I’ll be there!
Wow, you really should have asked your employer about this. If there was a real business reason I’m sure your nice boss would have said yes thanks to a decent budget for this kind of stuff. Probably would have been good to keep the “partying” and “swag” comments off the blog though.

D’oh! Should have been bolder. Next year …
