Music Is Magical – A Children’s Music Review

Mommy Masters

I was given the opportunity to review Ellie Hirsch’s new CD, “Music is Magical, Children’s Songs with Ellie” and jumped at the chance. Her website said that her lyrics were witty and entertaining. I like witty. I like to be entertained. Bonus: kids like it too!

My kids are fairly picky in their musical tastes. They are not fans of the red furry monster anymore. Too cool for that, even the 2 year olds. Yet they aren’t really old enough to enjoy the sounds of Floyd or understand why Kurt Cobain sounds so distraught. So I have put up with some pretty terrible music in the van to and from preschool just to appease them. One of my go-to CD’s literally came out of a box of diapers. That’s the quality I’m talking about.

Luckily, The Mommy Master, Ellie Hirsch, has changed all of that for us.  With songs titles like “I Got Caught” and “Potty Time”, I was intrigued. So intrigued that I couldn’t wait for the kids and previewed the CD at work. Even my office staff was amused and enjoyed the change of pace. I was hooked and luckily for me, the kids are too!

There are 18 different tracks on “Music is Magical”. Some of them are short little diddies that are amusing and others are indirect lessons. Take “I Got Caught”.  The music is so catchy that they are bopping their heads while I’m singing louder like a teenager trying to get some boy to hear the lyrics of a love song. Instead it’s directed at my 4 year old who has recently learned a new word on the playground. – “I should have listened when you taught me but I didn’t, now you caught me.”  That’s right, you’ve been caught, son! I’m not sure he understands just yet why I’m singing it louder.

Music is Magical is also a Parents’ Choice Approved Award Winner, so I feel good about allowing my kiddos to listen to a song about going to bathroom, and secretly enjoying it too.

To get your copy, head on over to Amazon and download for $8.99. It’s also available on iTunes. This will definitely liven up your car rides.

Disclaimer:  I received the Mommy Masters “Music is Magical” CD for free to review. I received no other compensation. The opinions above are mine my own and were not influenced in any way.
