Speaking of Women’s Health

I am always on the hunt for easy, fun ways to live healthier. I’m not the healthiest person I could be, but at least I’m making an effort.

One cool healthy event I discovered a few years ago was Speaking of Women’s Health. This nonprofit organization educates women through conferences, a Lifetime TV show, newsletters, books, and community outreach.

A few years ago, I went to a Speaking of Women’s Health one-day conference event in Cincinnati, and it was truly inspiring. I heard a variety of interesting, nationally recognized experts talking about how I could live healthier. I tried all kinds of fun samples, health assessments, and fitness activities. Best of all, I got lots of free stuff! The SOWH goodie bag is unrivaled in its quality and quantity: makeup and skin-care products, food samples, pens, books, magnets, t-shirts, and so on.

So you can imagine my disappointment in being denied access to the event two years in a row. Why is it so hard to get tickets?! I sent in my completed paper application and credit card information months in advance (you can’t order online), only to receive a rejection letter in the mail saying try again next year. I feel like I’m applying to a prestigious college or something, and SOWH is telling me they’re too good for the likes of me.

I’m still hoping I can snag some tickets before the big event–maybe from one of those scalpers with an “I Need Tickets” sign? Or there’s always eBay. See if there’s a SOWH conference near you. But good luck getting a ticket–you’ll need it!

I go to the Women’s Health Conference held at Kenwood Country Club in the Fall. Christ Hospital is a sponsor, so I go for free..
    but tickets are $40.
Not sure if it is worth it, however, the event seems to be going down hill. Topics are good, and it is a day off.. then we leave early and go shopping before we have to pick up the kids : )

  2. Maybe they’d find space if they knew you would blog from and about the conference. Perhaps you could get a media pass!
