If you’ve been a long-time reader of WMAG, you might have noticed the lack of Friday Finds posts lately. That’s because the woman behind Friday Finds, our dear WMAG cofounder Cara, decided to leave us for other pursuits (in other words, she lost that lovin’ feeling for blogging).
Well, I, for one, miss those fun, funny and interesting little finds at the end of each work week. So I’m bringing Friday Finds back. Starting today.
How many reasons do you need to stop feeling so guilty? Well, Parenting magazine has 31 reasons you shouldn’t feel mom guilt. That’s a good start, don’t you think?
Cook once and feed your family for a month. One of our local bloggy friends, Tricia, writes a great blog called Once a Month Mom, offering menus and instructions for cooking a month’s worth of meals in a day. And now, she even provides a way to find other moms to partner up with! Check it out and maybe you’ll find the perfect cooking pal.
How do you include friends in your work-life juggle? My Work It, Mom! pal Nataly Kogan posed this question in her latest blog post. Comments have ranged from “I don’t” to “I wish I could” to “Here’s how I do it.” A great discussion, as usual.
What the world needs now is new Yo Gabba Gabba. I actually like this wacky kids’ show more than my 3-year-old. She just doesn’t GET how cool it is. So I’m way more excited than she is about the new season that starts March 8 on Nickelodeon. Just think! A whole week of brand-new episodes featuring Sarah Silverman, Weird Al Yankovic, Black Kids, Jack McBrayer, Paul Scheer, Weezer, Anthony Bourdain, Of Montreal, Mos Def, Devo, The Aquabats, Mark Mothersbaugh, Biz Markie and a special remix by Travis Barker. Oh, to be a kid again …
Moms of preteen/young teen girls, have you heard of Kiki magazine? It’s pretty much the most awesome publication you’ll find for your daughters to read. I heard about it through my mom’s friend’s daughter, who happens to be the magazine’s creative director. (Kiki is published in Cincinnati, but it has a national focus and readership.) The magazine is beautifully designed and brilliantly written, amazingly contains no ads, and the publisher/founder, Jamie Bryant, is a working mom. I am a fan. You should be, too.
Good finds, Sue! I've missed them, too, but have been too lazy to do anything about it.
I'm excited about Yo Gabba Gabba coming to Cinci. I won tickets in one of the bloggy giveaways going on. O isn't really into it either, but I think he will like it up close and in person.
Check out my blog for an article on working moms.http://welcometopaceplace.blogspot.com/2010/02/i-am-working-mom.html
We can't wait for the new season of YGG! Eli, 19 months, loves it more than we do and he even practices beat-boxing at home like Biz Markie tells him to.
I must not be cool 'cause I just can't get into Yo Gabba Gabba. Aside from the fact that it has all sorts of hipsters in it, I've never understood what made it all that different from other kid shows. Hm.
Now that my daughter's older, we're into iCarly and Penquins of Madagascar.
Love Kiki too—they are partnering with us, thomas claire, on our local creative/arts events by giving out free mags to attendees!
