When Your Dream Job Falls in Your Lap

susan-pingage

I’m one week into a new job. And it’s not just any ol’ paying-the-bills 9-to-5, either.

I now get paid to read other people’s blogs, pin cool finds on Pinterest, figure out what makes content share-worthy, and help my fellow bloggers get more readers.

I KNOW, RIGHT?!

Don’t get me wrong. I was doing just fine at my old job, copywriting for a digital ad agency. I worked with some fun, funny people and got to do creative stuff. And the paycheck didn’t hurt, natch.

But when I got a call from my former colleague, describing this amazing opportunity at a startup in Cincinnati, I couldn’t resist.

So what is this job and startup, you ask? I am VP of Content Partnerships at a marketing optimization service specifically for Pinterest. I have the distinct pleasure of heading up a brand-new network of content providers (aka bloggers).

I’ve never been a VP before. Or had a personal stake in an up-and-coming startup. Or had the chance to directly apply my passion for blogs and social media to my day-to-day work.

I’m truly in blog (not hog) heaven, y’all.

Now I just have to figure out how to kick as much ass as possible work-wise, without burning myself out or neglecting the other loves of my working mom life: hubs, kids, friends and family. This first week’s been a whirlwind, and I don’t foresee things settling down anytime soon.

Pin with me, friends. It’s gonna be a wild ride!
